Depression

One area that I specialize in is depression. If your child has been feeling sad, hopeless, or not feeling anything at all, they may be experiencing depression. While it can seem paralyzing, through therapy I can help your child process their feelings and acquire tools to break through.

In children and adolescents, depression can look different than in adults. Symptoms of depression can include:

  • Feeling hopeless

  • Feeling numb

  • Feeling lonely, even when support is offered

  • Fatigue/feeling tired

  • Sadness

  • Loss of interest in activities they once enjoyed

  • Withdrawal from friends/other social relationships

  • Anger/irritability

  • Difficulty completing homework/focusing on schoolwork

  • Difficulty sleeping (increased sleep, decreased sleep, inability to stay asleep, poor quality sleep)

  • Ambivalence about future plans

These signs indicate may indicate that your child is experiencing depression. If they are, therapy is a great tool to help them through this difficult time. Call or message me to learn more about how I can help your child with depression.
